Hello. Hello. Hello. Welcome back to the podcast. Happy Friday, friends. Hope you are having a good week so far. I'm having a good week. I just got back from Peru. I had a nice trip with family and I recently moved. So it's like my first week back. Living in my new place. So a lot of new nurse happening over here. But I'm super excited to be back and recording the podcast.
And I have some really exciting news today. So I'm really excited to reveal what the news is to you guys, because it's been a long time in the making. So actually it's been about. Exactly a year. Actually last March, I started working on something really special. And we are actually officially launching it today and you are the first to know. And that is the make [00:01:00] good fashion academy.
Woo. Yeah.
If you are wondering what the makeup fashion academy is, makeup. Fashion academy is a digital course. It's a program that I've created to help you to start in launch your purpose driven fashion brand. And this program was a really birth out of my experience of starting my own prayin. I had experienced in the industry. I had years of experience in the industry when I started my brand, but I still made so many costly mistakes and wasted so much time because I just did not know how to navigate every area I had so much trouble and it took me a couple years before I felt like I had a solid product. And so. When I came up with this idea for this program, I thought like it would be so cool to actually provide people with this mentorship and like this step-by-step guidance on how to start a brand from concept to [00:02:00] actual launch and everything in between.
And so I am just so excited about this program. You guys, after you've worked a year on something like when you actually finally get to see it come to fruition is just an incredible feeling. I feel like I can take a sigh of relief. Because it has taken a lot of work on top of running my other business. But it has turned out better than I could even imagine. I actually partnered with some industry professionals and combined, we have over 50 years of experience.
So imagine all of that combined into one program. And I want to give you guys a little insight, look at what is in this program. So you are getting this exclusive, you're the first to know and get this like inside. Tour of the program, but it's really incredible because again, we start with idea.
So even if, if you have an idea or you don't have an idea, this lesson is amazing because it's really an inspire you and show you what is possible, especially in the [00:03:00] purpose-driven space. When we're working with creating brands that are missional and what impact that can really have. And so I love that lesson, then we're going to help you figure out who your target customer is.
And I know you hear that so often, but we're actually showing you how to do it, right? Like how to use these market research sites and tools, how to create a customer persona so that you actually are launching to a actual customer. And you have a tribe of people who are like excited and waiting for your product. We teach you brand identity, what's going, which is going to help you to craft a visual brand.
So it helps you with finding we're going to help you craft a logo and the colors around your brand and the brand voice and all these things that you need to. I have to have a strong brand to support the actual clothing that you're going to come out with. And then we are going to help you to vet your brand idea, how to actually make sure that you have proof of concept because you guys, one thing I'm not going to allow you to do, I'm not [00:04:00] going to allow you to launch a brand that doesn't actually work.
And so it's really important to me like this. Isn't just like a program for me to having another business around. This is something that I want to make sure that you are putting something good out into market. And that's what make good fashion is all about. That's like, I don't want people to start brands anymore if they are not purposeful.
And so I crafted these lessons intentionally to make sure that what you put to market is proven and that it's going to work. Right. So after the vetting module, we also have like finances and funding to help you learn how to raise money for your business. And also how to budget. We give you a free budget template and all these amazing tools.
How to set up your business structure, how to make sure you're filing the correct sales tax, all of these little nuances that I feel like people really overlook when starting a business, because we're so focused on like the product development and it starting the, to creating the clothes that you don't [00:05:00] remember.
All of these things that actually make a business. And if you want to make sales, if you want to make money, you actually have a business need to have a business. And that's why we cover all these foundation things. Foundational things. We also have a module for product development, how to actually work with manufacturers, how to find your manufacturer, how to create your product.
And I have. A really amazing mentor of mine, actually teaching on this lesson too, who has been the vice president of a really well-known denim company. He's had over 40 years of experience himself in this industry. And then we have the design module, which the design module is actually being taught by Lottie woods.
And if you listened to, I think it's episode 16 of the podcasts. She, I actually interview her and she's amazing. She's worked for top shop and first Ms. Selfridges and all these really renowned brands. And so to have her teaching is just incredible. But also she has been so generous to give every student who's enrolled in the program, a free introductory [00:06:00] 15 minute call with her. To talk about design and sustainability and your tech packs and all of that, and bring your designs into fruition. And then amazing thing about the design module is that we've created it for people who have zero design experience.
So if you have no design experience, this is for you. We're not teaching you like how to sketch , but we're teaching you how to design when you don't have design experience. So that's really awesome. We are. I also have how to cost your products correctly. Literally, no stone is being left unturned.
You guys. I have thought of literally everything. I have been consulting for a couple of years now, and I've taken all those questions. Those frequently asked questions. Are brought to me from new startups and everything that I went through and basically put it all into a program so that you will have start to finish guidance. On how to start your fashion brand. And then the last modules are how to launch.
So it's 10 modules, about 33 lessons, and [00:07:00] it's learn at your own pace. So you can literally, if you're working a job, if you're doing a bunch of other things, if you're already in school, you can take this and learn at your own pace. Which is amazing. And then on top of all the video lessons, what's really cool is that we've created a workbook.
So with every module comes a workbook and those workbooks are fillable and they're great because basically we've created them. So it's like culminates into a business plan basically. And so those are amazing. And on every workbook we actually have a toolkit. So everything that we talk about. In each lesson, there's a toolkit for.
So for example, for our brand identity and like branding a lesson, We teach you about, you know, Branding and how you can use this on your packaging and everything. And so in the toolkit, it shows you where to find your sustainable packaging. Like we give you actual links. Some of those links have discounts so that you can get discounts to the places that you go to. Like where to find your freelance designers, we're giving you links to everything. I can't stress this enough, [00:08:00] but literally everything you need is in one place. And then on top of all that, we're giving you access to our sourcing directory that has over 200, you guys over 200. Suppliers manufacturers fabric fabric suppliers, everything that you need. So we're giving you the context, that emails, , the contact names like everything's there. So you don't have to do the, you know, the legwork of finding a manufacturer, which is usually like the hardest part. I find that people have the most trouble when starting their brand is like, they can't find a good manufacturer. And the great thing about the sourcing directory that we created is one that we're always updating it.
And two that we're starting a rating system. So now you can see ratings based on, you know, either us or someone in our community has used these manufacturers or suppliers before. And so that you can skip that guessing work of like, okay, is this a good manufacturer? Should I work with them? We've we've thought of it all you guys So there's that sourcing directory.
And then also We've created a community for this program. And so it's called the designers gathering and [00:09:00] what it is is a membership community, but we're giving everyone who enrolls into the course a two month free trial. And basically in the community, you can chat with other designers, you can share resources.
I actually use it so I can send out resources to you guys. And so I send out grant opportunities. Other day, I sent out something about, I don't know if you guys have watched the Tamron hall show, but they were looking for designers to feature on their show. So I put a link to apply for that. So I'm just using it to send out all the resources to you guys.
And then also every month we use in the designer's gathering, I do a monthly Q and a coaching call where you can ask specific questions and you can also do this in the program, like on every lesson, there's a comment box where you can comment and. Ask your questions, but the cool thing about the group Q and a, is that. I'm there live answering questions life, but also there's other people designers in there asking questions that you [00:10:00] might not even think of, that you can also get your answers to. And so it's really amazing because, you know, When I started my brand, I think something that really changed things for me is having community around me, of other designers, because then I started getting a resources, started getting opportunities. Based off of, you know, people sharing different opportunities and stuff like that.
So I wanted to create that same feel. For startups and people that don't have access to other designers. I live in LA. So, you know, there's, there's designers everywhere basically, and it's easy to network and meet people. But if you don't, this desires gathering is like the perfect space to meet other people who are doing the same thing that you are.
And. Just share resources and help each other out and just network talk and all that good stuff. So this program is just, I'm just so proud of it. You guys like. Like I said, I worked a year on it. And again, I put every single thing that I could think of that someone would need as a [00:11:00] startup. And it sounds so weird because it's like, what, why is this a dream? But it is because I think this is what I've been created to do to really be in a supportive role. For other brands and to help people get these ideas that are going to be a solution to someone's problem off the ground. And so I am just ecstatic and I can't wait to celebrate tonight and I can't wait for you guys to check it out.
